Medical and Surgical Camps
Apart from treatment of common ailments like malaria, diarrhea, pneumonia etc., the hospital hosts free surgical and diagnostic camps annually that make surgical care and family planning easily accessible to the rural population of Vidharbha. The activities undertaken in these camps are detection of Tuberculosis, Epilepsy, Congenital Heart Disease, Polio correction, Vasectomies etc. Filarial Hydrocoele, which results in accumulation of fluid in the scrotum of male patients, is a common problem in the Vidharbha. Special surgical camps are held in Shirdi Sai Baba for the surgical correction of this malady as well.
Reconstructive Surgery camps are also held in the Shirdi Sai Baba Hospital in November and December every year. A specialist team of surgeons, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and anesthetists from The Hand Clinics in UK, undertake surgical correction of clawed hands of deformed Leprosy patients, lagopthalmos (inability to shut eyelids), syndactyly (joined fingers), polydactyly (more than 5 fingers), burn contractures and surgical removal of congenital cysts.
